free choice week 8
I have decided that I am going to read Crank for my book of choice for the second part of this semister. Last year I started to read this book but never could get into it enough to even get through the first chapter. I think the way that the book is printed really distracts me from what I am reading about. However I know that I would enjoy this book so I am going to get over the way the book is printed and look at it as simply a challenge. I truely enjoy reading about kids and teens that have a confused home lives. I know everyone has challenges that they face during their years of growing up and I find it inspiring to read about them. A lot of the times the events that happen to the kids in the books we read about are extremely dramatic and worst case situations. But, I think it makes me realize that even though my life isn't perfect and sometimes I feel like nothing goes my way I can step back and see that there are so many people that have it worse off than I do. I love to read inspiring books, that is why I am determined to read Crank!

I'll be really interested to hear what you think about the story. Also, you might find it interesting that it is based off of the author's life (daughter), although loosely. Pay attention to the way the author writes herself as the mother. It's not exactly flattering.
